Learning outcomes
Course contents
Two main topics will be addressed. One is related to how digital media influence our cognitions, affects and behaviours. The second part focuses on the role of digital media in reproducing gender inequalities.
The following issues are considered:
- self and identities in digital contexts
- digital technologu and social relations
- online anti-social and pro-social behaviours
- digital media and social influence (conformity, fake news, minority influence, social activism)
- prejudice reduction through online contact
- stereotypes and discrimination in social network sites
- objectification and its personal and social consequences
- masculinity, discrimination and violence

Teaching methods
Students will be asked to read the topics before classes. During classes the topics will be briefly explained by the teacher to leave space for discussion, specific deepenings and ranges of application.
Assessment methods
The final exams is in writte form. Three open questions.
Students who regularly come to classes could substitute part of the final exam with specific group assignements.
Teaching tools
The lessons will be supported by ppt, videos, etc.
