Learning outcomes
At the end of the seminar (activity strictly pertinent with the objectives of the Degree Programme) the student gains skills and specific knowledge of the Fashion field.
Course contents
ART AND FASHION: IMAGES TELL
Upon completion of the seminar, the student knows and understands some relevant aspects of the evolution of fashion and the change in aesthetic canons since the 16th century.
The seminar aims to expose students to the methods and tools of clothing history from the Renaissance onward through a selection of paintings and engravings significant to the change in taste.
After a few introductory lectures on the history of fashion and its research methods, students will be divided into groups to which they will be assigned (or they will choose) a work from those proposed by the lecturer. Each week each group will have to work on reading the work (reading the image, bibliographic research, analysis and comprehension of a text provided by the lecturer) and at the end present the results in the classroom with a Powerpoint, discussing them with colleagues. It goes without saying that attendance is essential for eligibility.
A visit to the Fashion and Costume Museum at the Pitti Palace in Florence is planned.

Teaching methods
In view of the practical and workshop nature of the seminar, priority will be given to joint activities of devising, iconographic and bibliographic research. It will be required to develop a powerpoint, which will be commented on collectively.
Assessment methods
It will be necessary to attend at least 24 of the 30 seminar hours; classroom presentation of powerpoints prepared by students is scheduled from mid-seminar.
Teaching tools
Powerpoint of lectures, bibliography provided by the lecturer; material will be made available to students on Virtual.
Various audiovisual aids (audio CDs, image and digital film projections).
