Learning outcomes
At the end of the course, the student will be able to: plan a training program in the short, medium and long terms, based on the competitive level, age and gender of athletes; select and administer the most suitbale fitness tests to assess different physical capacities according to the characteristics of athletes, and analyse the obtained data, using them to individualise training loads and evaluate the effectiveness of training interventions; monitor the internal and external training load, also using advanced equipment, both in real time and offline, to properly adjust training programs.
Course contents
Introduction to sports evaluation and characteristics of tests; test administration and data analysis; evaluation of aerobic and anaerobic endurance; evaluation of strength, power and strength/power endurance; evaluation of speed, repeated-sprint ability and agility; evaluation of coorditionation; evaluation of mobility.
Basis and principles of sports training; internal and external load monitoring; analysis and use of data obtained from training monitoring; recovery monitoring and overtraining prevention.
Training periodization of different physical capacities; training planning in the short, middle and long term; design and compilation of a training plan in competitive athletes.

Teaching methods
Fronctal lectures, practical lessons and laboratory activities

Assessment methods
Oral examination with three questions, one on each of the three parts of the course content (Testing, training and recovery monitoring, training periodization and planning).
Teaching tools
Practical laboratory and on-field classes using tools and equipment for testing and internal and external training load monitoring
