Academic Year 2024/2025

  • Teaching Mode: Traditional lectures
  • Campus: Bologna
  • Corso: First cycle degree programme (L) in Sciences and Technologies for Green and Landscape (cod. 5830)

Learning outcomes

At the end of the course unit students have acquired knowledge and skills about basic rules and correct techniques for care and maintenance of trees, shrubs and turfgrass. In particuiar, students are able to assess the conditions of a tree in order to prevent failures, by applying biomechanics rules, and by testing and comparing instrumental machineries; they are able to prune, cut or trim a tree and a shrub, depending on the goal, the physiology and the season. We will expiain and test, directly on site, ali the maintenance operations in a turfgrass, from seeding to mowing. Finally, the students must understand why conflicts between root systems and buildings arise and how they are prevented and fixed, especially when the soli condition shows different Iayers or artifact presence.
