Learning outcomes
The seminar aims at providing students with basic knowledge concerning the principles and modalities of interpretation of multi-language international law texts.
Course contents
The seminar is composed of 2 parts.
Part 1 (4 hours) will address the provisions of the 1969 Vienna Convention on the Law of Treaties dealing with interpretation and the relevant case law.
Part 2 (4 hours) will be devoted to studying specific multi-language provisions in international treaties, with a view to testing the knowledge acquired during Part 1. The languages which will be subjet to studies will be English, French, Italian and Spanish.
Readings/Bibliography
Readings and materials will be provided in digital format at the beginning of the seminar.
Teaching methods
During lectures, the teacher will interact with students with a view to make textual analysis of the relevant provisions.
Assessment methods
Practical exercises simulating case studies to test the knowledge acquired
