Learning outcomes
At the end of the course the student will learn the pathophysiology of swallowing disorders and will be confident in clinical management of dysphagia. The course provide the student with the basics for understanding the impact of head and neck oncologic surgery on the voice and swallowing.

Diseases of the external, middle and inner ear
Anatomy of the larynx
Physiology of the larynx
Bening diseases of the larynx
Laryngeal cancer
Neurologic diseases of the larynx (unilateral and bilateral vocal cord palsy, superior laryngeal nerve palsy, vagus nerve palsy, laryngeal tremor, spasmodic dysphonia)
Endoscopic assessment of the larynx and stroboscopy
Muscle tension dysphonia
surgery of the Larynx (laser surgery, partial laryngectomy, total laryngectomy, voice reabilitation after total laryngectomy)
anatomy, physiology and pathology of the nose and sinuses
Swallowing: anatomy and physiology
Clinical and instrumental evaluation of swallowing (clinical evauation, modified barium swallow, FEES)
Swallowing disorders of the adult (neurological, traumatic, iatrogenic, gastroenterologic, systemic diseases)
Swallowing disorders in the pediatric population
Tracheotomy and swallowing disorders
Neck masses and thyroid gland
Anatomy, physiology and pathology of facial nerve.
