Learning outcomes
The student - is able to understand and produce a wide range of written texts and complex oral discourse in German, expressing himself/herself fluently and spontaneously
Course contents
The aim of the third year of study is to reach the C1.2 language level.
The course is based on the textbook ‘Vielfalt C1.2’ by Hueber Verlag, with the aim of consistently expanding vocabulary, optimising the range of oral/written expression and consolidating grammatical skills.
In addition to expanding general language skills, the course aims to introduce the topic of ‘Film Culture in Germany’ and familiarise students with the most important works of German film history up to contemporary film.
Following this, selected films will be shown that deal with personalities closely associated with German culture or their works (Nietzsche, Freud, Lou Salome, Gerhard Richter, Egon Schiele, Gustav Klimt). The works are analyzed and discussed in plenary. Individual writing skills are also consolidated by formulating film reviews.

Teaching methods
The teaching and learning process is dynamic and requires the active participation of the student.
Lectures alternate with group work and individual presentations.
Attendance is mandatory at 70%.
Assessment methods
The examination - which is oral only in all sessions - will focus on the topics covered during the semester.
Oral examination:
Text written by the student, of a total of 1000-1200 words, to be handed in by the end of the 2nd semester by e-mail to the lecturer. The topic is of free choice on a subject covered during the course.
On the basis of this text written by the student, an interview is held in German on the materials used and prepared both during the course and for the preparation of the written text, with verification of comprehension and ability to provide an adequate explanation.
The evaluation criteria are:
- knowledge, organization and personal reworking of the content;
- morphosyntactic correctness;
- lexical property and variety;
- communicative effectiveness;
- clarity and correctness of pronunciation.
Evaluation of student-produced papers will also be based on the following criteria:
- quality, complexity and accuracy of the activities performed
(work preliminary, consultation of online and offline resources,
steps of revision) in order to produce the papers, with relevant
documentation.
