Learning outcomes

At the end of the module the student has the ability to apply knowledge and understanding in the promotion and support of women's health with: 1) adequate information on promotion and responsible procreation; 2) prevention in healthcare and oncology; 3) promotion of healthy lifestyles and assistance systems oriented towards self-management and self-care.

Course contents

Basic concepts of Health Education. The determinants of health in the maternal-child area

Women's care and health

Promotion of healthy lifestyles. Smoking and alcohol. Microbiome Chronic pathologies Pelvic floor health. Menopause support

Information and screening of female pathologies and tumors Sexual and domestic violence

Immigrant women - Health card. Female genital mutilation Sexual well-being and fertility regulation Sexual well-being and information on fertility regulation (responsible motherhood/fatherhood). Contraception

Voluntary termination of pregnancy

Prevention of sexually transmitted diseases

Maternity Assistance during pregnancy, birth and physiological postpartum. Information and support in choosing the place and methods of birth. Birth support program. Prevention of perinatal emotional disorders. Protection, promotion and support of breastfeeding

Baby care and health

Support in feeding, monitoring the growth and state of health of the child up to one year of life.

Accompaniment and support for the couple in their parenting choices.
