78085 - Social Theatre (1) (LM)

Academic Year 2024/2025

Learning outcomes

At the end of the course, the student will learn the basic historic and methodological articulations of the theatre appled to the school, prison, physical and mental disability, to marginalized areas and communities. In terms of skills, the knowledge acquired through the course will provide tools for a critical and operational approach to the diverse forms of a socially-inclusive theatre.

Course contents

Origins, present forms and variations of social theatre are the object of this course. Starting with a methodological and historigraphical basis that can enable the students to grasp the social function of art in its variations, we will go through specific theatre cases studies concerning the educational, the health and social contexts.

The monographic part of the course will be focused on theatre and prison. Most specifically on Compagnia della Fortezza and on theatre in youth detention centers, with a specific reference to the Compagnia Puntozero.

Students with SLD or temporary or permanent disabilities. It is suggested that they get in touch as soon as possible with the relevant University office (https://site [https://site/] .unibo.it/tudent-con-disabilita-e-dsa/en) and with the lecturer in order to seek together the most effective strategies for following the lessons and/or preparing for the examination.
