The student will also be able to identify and apply the most appropriate basic translation strategies to fulfil the communicative/operational functions of the source text.
Course contents
This course is aimed at the acquisition of the necessary skills to translate touristic texts. We will work with authentic materials that are representative of different textual genres related to the museum field (brochures, websites, promotional videos, etc.). We will use CAT tools, dictionaries, encyclopedias, corpus and terminology databases.

Teaching methods
This course module requires a 70% student attendance. The lesson is conceived as a laboratory where we will carry out activities of analysis, documentation, translation, proofreading and commentary. An active participation of all students in the proposed exercises is required.
Assessment methods
In addition to a midterm exam (30% of the final mark), the student will hold a two-hour final exam (70%) which will test student's acquisition of translation methods and techniques required for the translation of tourism texts. This exam consists of a translation of a museum leaflet from Italian into Spanish. Students will be allowed to use CAT tools, internet, dictionaries and technical glossaries.
