Learning outcomes
The students will learn about the organization of tissues and organs of the human body. This knowledge will allow them to better understand the subsequent Courses of biochemistry, physiology, pathology, pharmacology, and clinical pathology.
Course contents
ANATOMY MODULE
Anatomicomedical terminology
Anatomical position; anatomical planes; terms of relationship and comparison; General organization of hollow and solid organs. Structure of the wall of capillaries.
Cardiovascular system
Anatomy of the heart and of its cavities. Structure of the heart wall. The electrical conduction system of the heart. Structure of the lymphatic vessels, lymph nodes and circulation of the lymph.
Respiratory system
Gross anatomy and structure of: pharynx, trachea, lungs, bronchial tree, pulmonary alveoli.
Digestive system
Gross anatomy and structure of: esophagus, stomach, small intestine (duodenum, jejunum, ileum), pancreas (exocrine and endocrine), large intestine, liver, biliary tree and gallbladder.
Urinary system
Gross anatomy of the kidneys, organization of renal vasculature, structure of the nephron (renal corpuscle and renal tubule), juxtaglomerular apparatus.
Female reproductive system
Gross anatomy and structure of: ovary, fallopian tubes, uterus, vagina.
Male reproductive system
Gross anatomy and structure of the testes. The prostate.
Lymphoid system
Structure of the lymphatic vessels, lymph nodes and circulation of the lymph. Thymus, spleen and tonsils.

Teaching methods
The Anatomy module will comprise 2 teaching credits (24 hours). During the classes, ppt presentations will be projected to fully illustrate all the topics of the Contents.
Assessment methods
There will be an oral examination with questions (usually 2 questions) related to the topics discussed during the classes. Students will need to register for the Anatomy exam on the Almaesami platform (https://almaesami.unibo.it/almaesami/welcome.htm).
The exam will be considered passed if the student has demonstrated sufficient knowledge in each topic.
