Learning outcomes
At the end of the course the student has acquired a historical - critical knowledge of concepts and spatial models with which the modern geography has built and arranged the production and the communication of knowledge about the Earth.
Course contents
The course offers an introduction to the central concepts of human geography starting from the main models through which geographical knowledge has built and transmitted the functioning of the world: the map, the globe, space, place. After the first introductory part, the course focuses on some central themes of political geography: sovereignty, territory and citizenship.

Assessment methods
The exam consists of a written test with open questions about the main concepts presented in class and in the compulsory texts.
NON ATTENDING students will study chapters 1-2-3-8-9 of Minca, C., et al. (2022) and the book Farinelli, F. (2003) Geografia: un’introduzione ai modelli del mondo (Enaudi).
ATTENDING students will study chapters 1-2-3-8-9 of Minca, C., et al. (2022) plus personal notes and slides presented in the classroom.
EVALUATION CRITERIA
Both the critical knowledge of the texts in the program and the communication skills of the student will be central criteria for th4 final evaluation. For this reason, particular attention will be paid to the ability to synthesize and analyze the course material , as well as to their critical use in consideration of a correct and appropriate language.
