Learning outcomes
At the end of the course the student has historical and critical knowledge about the developments of visual arts and photography in the XX century; he is able to analyse and interpret the strategy of the world of the communication, especially for what is concerning Fashion system, in which photography plays a central role.
Course contents
After an initial overview of the main historical and theoretical issues related to the affirmation of fashion photography, within the wider twentieth-century artistic and aesthetic context, the course will focus on two themes: on the analysis of the main sources of inspiration for the imaginary of the visual communication of fashion (memory, voyeurism and fantastic fiction), and on the birth and meaning of the phenomenon of the fashion icon through photography

Assessment methods
Written Test
The test is based on 16 questions with 4 possible answers.
There are three typology of question:
- Recognition of the name of the authors of some pictures chosen from the database (see above).
- Questions about history of fashion icons and informations about poetics, protagonists and authors described in bibliography.
- Questions about the principal theoretical and critical issues about fashion photography analyzed in bibliography.
