Learning outcomes

The student knows the basic economic-political elements for understanding the process of integration into the European Union of the national reference states for foreign languages activated in the Course.

Course contents

Lesson plan

History: Europe after the Second World War; the new international order; the Marshall Plan; the first community experiments: Oece - Ceca - Ced - Cee, Euratom; international relations; the economic boom; Altiero Spinelli, Ernesto Rossi and European federalism; community enlargements; the European treaties; the eurozone crisis; Brexit; Europe in the new millennium.

Policies: Economic and monetary Union; European languages and culture; regional economic differences; security policies; the issue of immigration; environmental issues,

Institutions: the European Parliament; the Commission; the Council and the Council of Ministers; the Court of Justice; the BCE and monetary policies; the Economic and Social Committee, the Committee of the Regions; the Court of Auditors, the European Ombudsman, the Guarantor, etc.

2) Students with written heads: at the beginning of the course some research topics will be identified; the thesis will be discussed in the classroom.

3) Non-attending students: it is necessary to study the volume by M. Maggiorani, Un sogno chiamato Europa, Clueb, 2021 and the reading of a second book of your choice.
