Learning outcomes
After completing this module the student will possess the knowledge and ability to understand about orthopedic diseases amenable to physioterapic treatment, identifying preventive and rehabilitative needs of the subject through the evaluation of clinical data.
Course contents
THE CLINICAL REASONING:
• definition
• the phases of the clinical reasoning: anamnesis with its clinical diagnosis made by the doctor, functional assessment, identification of therapeutic targets, planning rehabilitation intervention (project, program physiotherapy), revaluation.
PRINCIPLES OF FUNCTIONAL EVALUATION IN PHYSICAL THERAPY ORTHOPEDIC:
For each district considered will be process:
Evaluation of impairment made through observation, inspection, palpation,
pain assessment by interview and administration of scale,
evaluation of edema,
evalutation of thermotouch through palpation of the affected area and comparison with the district against side
evaluation of the range of movement
evaluation of muscle strength,
evaluation of sensitivity (if necessary),
specific tests useful for functional differential diagnose,
specific assessment scales.
The evaluation of activity and their limitations; disability assessment through observation and application of appropriate scales
The evaluation of disability
The evaluation of the contextual factors: environment and people (potential facilitators or barriers to achieving autonomy)
Identification of therapeutic targets
- Strategies physiotherapy to the achievement of the objectives
Physiotherapy treatment in the main pathologies of rehabilitation interest (outcomes of fracture, trauma, diseases of different origin).Readings/Bibliography

Assessment methods
The exam consists of an oral interview, designed to assess the knowledge and skills acquired by the student, who will be also proposed a simulated clinical case with respect to which will have to show, using clinical reasoning:
- able to set up a hypothesis of physiotherapic assessment and diagnosis
- know a set of hypotheses treatment plan
