Learning outcomes

At the end of the course, the student: - knows the theoretical reference paradigms and the evolution of social policies; - is able to analyze specific cases of social distress; - will know the functions of the social worker and his ethical aspects; - can use the specific techniques and professional tools of the social worker; - knows the methodological procedure of social intervention and is able to apply it to develop and implement projects aimed at helping the person, the group and the community; - will be able to define the function of social service tools in the context of the planning of social intervention; - can use team work in social work.

Course contents

The course of methods and techniques of social service II in addressing the theoretical paradigms and the evolution of social policies, will try to contextualise the functions of the Social Worker, in its cultural, deontological and professional dimensions. The first part will focus on deepening the documentation of the social service and on the social and legal protection of minors. The second part will turn its gaze to community social service, in particular to its theoretical and methodological foundations, on the skills necessary to activate and promote resources in community contexts. In the third part, a focus on the fight against gender violence: the regulatory framework, the main references and measures regarding violence against national, European and international women; the continuum and cycle of violence; assisted violence: mistreatment of mothers; services involved in violence against women.

Teaching methods

Frontal lessons, accompanied by subgroup work / practical exercises, seminars, case studies, handouts.

Assessment methods

The exam includes an intermediate written test and a final oral test. The aim is to verify if the student has learned the contents of the texts and if he has reached a global and organic vision of the topics covered. The student must not mnemonically report what he has read on the texts but through a personal linguistic style, and must be able to demonstrate that the topic has been internalized and elaborated. Must demonstrate expressive mastery and use of specific language and professionally correct terms.
