Learning outcomes
Aims of the course:
- To present the general concepts of the occupational medicine;
- To present the most common occupational diseases;
- To introduce the diagnostic framework and the management of selected occupational diseases.
Course contents
- Introduction to occupational medicine
- Reference legislative frame. The role of the occupational physician.
- Classification of occupational risk factors
- Introduction to occupational toxicology and hygiene
- Work-related cancers I: general concepts, neoplasm that are frequently caused by occupational risk factor
- Work-related cancers II: high incidence neoplasms also related to occupational risk factor
- Musculoskeletal disorders
- Metal toxicit
- Toxicity of aromatic solvents, aliphatic solvents, and ketones
- Endocrine disruptors
- Work-related skin disorders
- Occupational hearing loss
- Work-related respiratory disease
- Reproductive hazards in the workplace.
- Occupational medicine in the healthcare work setting
- Psychosocial risk factors in the workplace. Models for job-stress. Bullying, mobbing, and burnout
