Learning outcomes

The aim of this course is to familiarise the student with the legal aspects of national and trans-national social security systems.

Course contents

This course deals with the basic techniques and principles of national and European social security law and refers to: i) The subject, the system and the sources of Social Security Law; ii) The fundamental principles of Social Security Law; iii) The functions of Social Security Law; iv) The legal relations of Social Security; v) The pension insurance, including the complementary pension schemes; vi) The health insurance; vii) The sickness insurance - persons covered, matters covered, the different benefits; viii) The unemployment insurance - companies and workers covered, matters covered, different benefits; ix) The administrative and inspective bodies; x) Judicial remedies.
