Learning outcomes
At the end of the course, the student has a good knowledge of the basic elements of Air Law on a national and international level, and knows how to develop the ability and how to understand and analyze case law relevant to the field of Air Law.
Course contents
First teaching module
1. The regulation of public assets in Air Law.
2. Air Navigation Authorities and International bodies: Italian Civil Aviation Authority, Enav, ICAO, Ecac.
3. Airport Infrastructure Management.
4. Air Navigation Services in the European and International Context. The 1944 Chicago Convention. The International Civil Aviation Organization.
5. Access to the European Air Transport market and the liberalization of the latter. Code sharing agreements and frequent flyer programs.
Second teaching module
6. The contract of carriage by air of passengers and cargo and air carrier liability (Varsavia Convention 1929; Montreal Convention 1999; EC Regulations 2027/97 and 2002/889).
7. Aviation insurance. Aviation hull all risk insurance and insurance requirements for air carriers and aircraft.
8. The legal regime of "slots".
9. The discipline of the Overbooking (EC Regulation 261/2004).
10. Passengers' rights and the European policy in air law.

Frontal lessons.
Assessment methods
Oral exams will be held for each academic year and will be comprised of three questions per candidate. Students attending at least 50% of the lessons held will be questioned on TWO subjects (out of THREE questions) relating to the following arguments: 1. Bilateral air service agreement; 2.European air service regulation; 3. Air carrier liability-the 1999 Montreal Convention; 4. Aviation insurance; 5. Ground handling services.
