Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to provide students with a basic knowledge of epidemiological methods and to acquire basic knowledge of health defence/promotion and disease prevention.
Course contents
History and definition of epidemiology.
Causation and causal inference in Epidemiology.
Sources of data regarding health events.
Measures of occurrence: incidence and prevalence.
Measures of association: relative risk, odds ratio.
Type of epidemiologic studies: randomized controlled trials, cohort studies, case-control studies, crosss-sectional studies, ecological studies.
Confounding factors and bias in epidemiological studies.
Evidence based medicine.
Social Epidemiology.
Data collection and statistical analyses with Epinfo.
Safety and hygiene in sport facilities
