Learning outcomes
At the end of the course the student achieve a knowledge related to the main concepts who concerns the legal action with its various connexions with institutions, legals practitioners, and the legal system. Moreover the student is able to discern the fundamental principles who govern the relations between social change and legal reforms. He is also able to identify the main sociological-legal theories who provided the major contributions to the investigation upon social phenomenon of relief in the field of law.
Course contents
The course aim to face the main issues of the sociology of law.
Starting from the theoretical statute of this latter as specific field of the sociology, the goal is to examine the evolution of social action to the norms, and the process for which they came to influence the legal system seen in its structures, its functions and dynamics.
The role of the law and his function within the social system will be faced with reference to classic and contemporary debate. The relation between provision and sanction, law and institution, role and status will be treated taking into account the contribute of the major figures of the discipline.
Specific attention will be pay to issues related to legal controversies and justice, to the the jurisdictional and non jurisdictional methods to resolve controversies in attempt to investigate the effectiveness of the different procedures. Moreover will be treat the issue of formation of the sociology of law as empirical science with the connected epistemological problems who bring with her.

For II semester is active the seminar "Discriminations and law",
who give title to achieve 3 formative credits by attending at
75% of the scheduled encounters.

Transfer credit in Sociology of Law area is intended prior assessment by Prof. Pellegrini.
Teaching methods
The lessons will be held through frontal classroom with the help of technological supports, seminars of study and encounters of debate upon empirical cases, showing and analysis of originals materials.
Assessment methods
The assessment will be held through an interview. Registration will be through the informatic system AlmaEsami.
The achievement of certification of frequency at the course has annual validity and can be used for sustain the exam from may 2015 until march 2016.
For the assignment of the dissertation thesis go to the office hours of Prof. Pellegrini.
Teaching tools
The lessons are integrated by power-point presentations, projection of short videos related to the topics of the course and other materials distributed during the classroom.
