Learning outcomes

The course aim is to analyse the cultural expressions and the working out of collective imaginary though memory and written, iconographic and filmed documentation of the Twentieth Century generations.

Course contents

Fashion and Cultural Heritage: social imaginaries and collective practices.

Particularly, will be examined the following subjects:
International Archives, Museums, Maisons de la Mode, Galleries of Costume, Foundations and Cultural Projects of Fashion and Costume

Teaching methods

Frontal lessons, seminars and visits to fashion institutions. Students according with the teacher will carry on a research on a fashion institution (museum, archive, maison etc.).

Assessment methods

Attending students: report and presentation of the research during classes will be valid as oral exam

Non-attending students: oral exam on recommended readings

Mandatory for all students: a research paper (3000 words) about a fashion institution. The work must be submitted to the teacher within 15 days before the oral exam
