Course contents

“De destierros y Memorias”.  The Literature of exile in Hispanica culture.
The course aims to contribute to the deepening of knowledge regarding Spanish language and culture, in different historical contexts. To this end, we will focus on the reading and analysis of texts centered on the theme of exile as a literary topic, or founding myth of writing.
Students should be able to analyze texts of different genres (poetry, fiction, nonfiction, drama), from different eras (medieval epic Cantar de Mio Cid to the narrative migrant contemporary poetry through the 1939 Republican exile) and other countries (Spain, Argentina, Cuba, Mexico, Chile), always looking for the relationship between particular experience and the search for a voice born in unrooted identity.
