b) To provide methods to analyze corporate strategic behaviors
c) To develop competences in order to properly manage complex problems
Course contents
Classes will be offered during the first semester in the CIEG Laboratory (ground floor in via Terracini 28). Class participants will be divided into groups of three persons each, and they will be asked to simulate strategic decisions into a virtual competitive market. Each managerial decision will impact on the firm's stock-value. After five rounds of interactions the firm with the highest stock-value will win the competition.
Readings/Bibliography
A business-game manual in English will be provided to each participant.
Teaching methods
This is an internet-based business game.
Assessment methods
This is a pass/no-pass (6 credits) class. There is no final exam. Final result will depend on the individual participation to both team-decisions and seminars organized by the instructor.
Once the business game will be over, students (if interested) will be able to craft their final thesis (in Italian) for the bachelor in Ingegneria Gestionale, based on the insight gathered from the business game.
Teaching tools
The virtual market will be simulated on an internet-based platform provided by Global Management Challenge – Italia (www.globalmanagementchallenge.it), that, after each round, will provide feedback to groups. Forms and materials are in English.
In order to join the business game, students have to submit a candidature to the instructor during the first week of October. Teams will then be arranged and the competition will get started.
A pre-requisite for participation is to have successfully completed the “Gestione Aziendale T.AB” class.
