Learning outcomes
The aim is to lead the student in learning the basic statistical notion. The first theoretical part introducing the basic statistics, is followed to an application part with practical exercises.
Course contents
The teaching process is composed of two parts. For each part there are theoretical lessons and practical exercises.
- PART I - Sources data. The statistics surveys and their phases. The scales measurement of the phenomena. Frequency distributions. Graphical representation. Mean, median, mode. The variability. Concentration and its measure. The statistical ratios. Simple and composed indices. Descriptive Statistics: Bivariate Data. The covariance. Correlation and regression.
- PART II - Introduction to the probabilities. Random variables. Probability distributions. The sample design. Propriety of estimators. Confidence intervals. Testing Hypotheses. The linear regression model.

Teaching methods
The methods are based on theoretical and practical parts in order to learn the basic statistical notion for data analysis. A tutor helps students in practical exercises
Assessment methods
There are two (plus one) intermediary tests during the
Statistics course, with optional final oral examination.Otherwise,
is possible to do only one full test in the ordinary examination
sessions.
The result examination are good if the student score isn't lesser
then 18.
The student doesn't pass the examination in the following course
session, can give back it only in September session.
