- Corso: First cycle degree programme (L) in Chemistry and Technologies for the Environment and Materials (cod. 0883)
Learning outcomes
At the end of the course the student is able to analyse the risk and the environmental impact of the chemical processes considering the updated european regulation and international standards. He is able to evaluate and select available methods for the risk mitigation. The student is also able to apply methods for a continuative improvment of the processes with the aim of obtaining increasing safety and sustainability and the implementation of intrinsically safe and sustainable processes.
Course contents
Hierarchy of law, the international convention, the European legislation on environment and waste management, the Italian legislation, the regional legislation (specific cases). The protection of environmental (water, air, soil). The UE regulation on chemical products (REACH), the regulation on energy and climate change. The flammability and explosion risk, the risks of toxic products, other risks in the chemical industry. The Process risk analysis and evaluation. The procedure for the preliminary hazard evaluation (PHA), the what if and the Hazop procedures. The fault trees analysis and the event trees analysis. The responsibilities in the risk management. The intrinsically safe and sustainable processes.
