Academic Year 2009/2010

  • Teaching Mode: Traditional lectures
  • Campus: Bologna
  • Corso: Second cycle degree programme (LM) in LANGUAGE, SOCIETY AND COMMUNICATION (cod. 0982)

Learning outcomes

Objective of the course is to offer an overview of economic development, its historical phases, its interpretations as well as the different strategies adopted over the world to foster it. At the end of the course, the student will have a deeper knowledge of the history of world economic development, of the main international organizations and agencies operating in the field of economic development, and of the main issues on the table today.

Course contents

This year, the course has been reduced to a 5-credit 30 hour course, in spite of it being one of the main courses in the curriculum of Development and International Cooperation. Given the reduced time available, the course will cover three main topics (which will only partly satisfy the given and required objectives for this course):
- economic development in a historical perspective
- factors of economic development
- economic development and international cooperation
A more detailed outline of the course will be handed out at the beginning of the course and published on the web (http://www2.dse.unibo.it/ardeni/courses.html)

Textbooks and books used for the course will be illustrated at the beginning of classes and published on the web site http://www2.dse.unibo.it/ardeni/courses.html.
