Learning outcomes

The aim of the course is to provide information and knowledge concerning differentiation, structural organization and evolution of vertebrates skeleton apparatus.

Course contents

Classification of vertebrate skeletal apparatus. Structure and development of vertebrae. Evolution of the axile skeleton. Origin of the skeleton of appendages. Structural organization and evolution of paired fins. The skeleton of appendages of primitive tetrapods.Structure and evolution of girdles. Origin, structure and evolution of the tetrapod limbs. Components of the head skeleton: chondrocranium, visceral skeleton and dermatocranium. Differentiation, structural organization and evolution of the head components.
