Learning outcomes

The aim of the course is to explain the constitutional principles and the basic knowledge of criminal law, the structure and the notion of general principles of the criminal code. Further, the course means to explain the structural features and the fundamental principles of the criminal procedure.

Course contents

The first part of lectures will deal with following topics of criminal law: aims and functions of the criminal law; the sources of the criminal law and the constitutional principles; the concept of protected interest; the elements of crime (conduct, excuses, culpability); attempt; complicity; penalties; the offences.

The second part of lectures will deal with following topics of criminal procedure: basic principles of criminal procedure; structural elements of the trial (in particular subjects and proofs); dynamics of the ordinary proceeding; defensive investigations; elements of special proceedings; appeals and revision.

Students have to read the examined norms of the criminal code and of the criminal procedure code.

 

Teaching methods

The course will be held by lectures.

Assessment methods

The final test will be exclusively an oral exam.

Teaching tools

During the lectures jurisprudence will be indicated in reference to relevant issues.
