Conoscenze e abilità da conseguire
The seminars are designed to introduce students to some specialized aspects of the training. The seminars are related to the deepening of advanced topics, in particular taught by specialists or professionals of some disciplines of the learning activities. The seminars will deal with the themes connected with the areas of learning: computer science; literary, linguistic, historical/cultural and related to the arts in the digital context; transversal: economics, law and communication.

WRITING METHODS AND COMMUNICATION STYLES
The SEMINARS are organized in a cycle of lectures, the lectures will last 3 hours each, from 4pm to 7pm on Mondays and from 12pm to 3pm on Fridays.
The teaching session will last from March 31st until May 16th.
The lectures will be held in Sala AFFRESCHI (Entrance from Via Zamboni 34, First Floor).
NO LECTURES will be held on the following bank holidays: Friday- April 18, Monday- April 21, Friday- April 25, Friday- May 2.

During this course you will acquire fundamental skills and knowledge in Writing Techniques and Communication Styles.
The course guarantees to enrich your writing and speaking skills and competences and to make your speech and texts goal-oriented, distinct, articulate, precise, powerful and most importantly impressive and professional!
The course will be comprised of two main parts.
The first part of the course will introduce the following writing methods:
- academic,
- persuasive,
- narrative,
- expository,
- descriptive.
By the end of the course you will be able to not only distinguish among the above mentioned writing methods, but also apply them correctly and productively. The second part of the course will untangle the main communication styles for you, enabling you to deliver an effective, competent and eloquent speech in applicable contexts.
You will learn how to navigate the pool of different communication styles and how to accurately outline and apply them in various situations.
Furthermore, during the course you will study the key elements of successful communication such the 7Cs of effective communication, essentials of verbal communication (structure, logic, word choice, flow and speed) and non-verbal communication (pitch, tone, eye-contact, gestures and posture) which are all included in our syllabus.
The main communication styles covered in the course will be:
- assertive,
- passive,
- aggressive,
- diplomatic.
In addition to all of the writing and communication methods and styles mentioned above, we will also have a brief seminar on Thesis Writing Format, so that the course will not only give you a profound insight and practices on how to properly speak and write in 9 different styles in English, but will also facilitate you in your accomplishments in the imminent future, such as successfully finalizing your thesis.
The course will be held in English, it is highly recommended to all international students.

Metodi didattici
In order to help students better understand the course materials and effectively apply their newly acquired skills and knowledge, there will be a variety of group and individual assignments. Therefore, to actively engage students and reinforce learning during each lecture we will include:
- interactive Question-and-Answer session,
- brainstorming activities,
- discussions,
- practical exercises,
- case studies.
Modalità di verifica e valutazione dell'apprendimento
Students will be assessed based on their individual work and performance during the lectures, as well as the final project; through their final assignment, they will be required to demonstrate how they can apply their newly acquired skills and competences and what are the capabilities and competences gained throughout the course.
