Conoscenze e abilità da conseguire

At the end of the class, students will have a thorough view of the main directions of current research in economics. It will have attained the ability to develop critical and original views on both empirical and theoretical directions of research.

Contenuti

Research seminars in all fields of Economics held weekly over the a.y. by invited speakers at the Department of Economics. Online seminars offered by national and international research institutions might be included, upon suggestions or approval by the Degree Coordinator.

Research Seminars

Weekly seminars held by established and emerging scholars from around the world, invited to present their research and discuss ideas with faculty members and PhD students.

When: Tuesday at noon, DSE auditorium, and online via Teams

Internal Seminars

Reserved to departmental and visiting faculty, researchers, and co-authors, to present advanced research. The setting is slightly less formal than the one of Research Seminars.

(All Internal Seminars are valid for the activity except the seminars presented by PhD students)

When: Wednesday at 1 pm, DSE auditotium or seminar room, and online via Teams

Field seminars (when available)

A member of the administrative office will ensure that the Auditorium door is open at the beginning of every seminar and field seminar organized by the Department of Economics. Unfortunately, it will not be possible to guarantee that the door remains open after the seminar begins.

Finally, (online) seminars offered by national and international research institutions might be included, upon suggestions or approval by the Degree Coordinator.

Modalità di verifica e valutazione dell'apprendimento

Students choosing this activity should:

1) attend to ten seminars,

2) write down the list of the 10 seminars they attended to and prepare a report for 3 of them. The three reports will provide a summary and a synthetic critical assessment of the methods and results contained in the papers presented in the selected seminars. (Minimum length: one page; maximum length: two pages for each chosen seminar).

3) email the list with the ten seminars and the three reports to Prof. F. Barigozzi by the end of June of the current academic year.
