At the end of the course, students will be able to understand the functioning of the most important economic instruments in the hands of public authorities, such as taxation, deficit/debt and fiscal policy.
Contenuti
This course explores the role of government in the economy, focusing on key questions such as:
- When should the government intervene in the economy?
- What tools does the government use to intervene?
- How do these interventions affect economic outcomes?
- Why does the government choose to intervene in specific ways?
By applying basic microeconomic principles and drawing on examples from both developed and developing countries, the course equips students with the analytical tools needed to understand both the necessity and limitations of public sector involvement in the economy.
Upon completing the course, students will be able to critically evaluate a range of important policy issues, employing rigorous analytical techniques.
The skills gained will be particularly valuable for professionals working in government or international organizations, helping them navigate the trade-offs inherent in policy decisions and formulate effective policy alternatives.
