Conoscenze e abilità da conseguire

At the end of the course the student will have knowledge on the impact of migration on the development and emergence of infectious diseases and antimicrobial resistance. The student will also gain knowledge on pandemics definition, prevention and preparedness from a global perspective.

Contenuti

Lesson 1: Infectious diseases and migration. Migrants screening programs for infectious diseases.

Lesson 2: Epidemic/Pandemic alerts: past, present and future.

Lesson 3: WHO strategies to improve pandemic preparedness.

Lesson 4: Antimicrobial resistance. Focus on tuberculosis and MDR-TB control strategies.

Lectures and in-class group work.

Modalità di verifica e valutazione dell'apprendimento

Students are required to attend at least 70% of classes for credit. Final grade consists of 50% interactive work in groups and 50% individual written assignment on a topic assigned in the course.

Power point presentations, videos, online resources

Students attending in presence should bring their own computer in class to participate to the online simulation and groups works.
