KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING ABILITY:
Graduates
- will have specialist knowledge in museum science and disciplines pertaining to the specificity of museums and cultural institutions;
- will have broad knowledge of history of art and specific knowledge of the problems related to preservation, restoration and protection of the works of art;
- will possess in-depth knowledge in the field of history, for the correct organisation of the works of art , which is the subject of study and/or preservation;
The above-listed knowledge and understanding abilities are achieved through attending lectures and specialised seminars, through supervised home study, also supported by a broad activity of tutoring, provided by the educational activities implemented in the core curriculum subject areas of historical-artistic, methodological, historical and literary sciences.
Assessment is accomplished mainly through exams and oral or possibly written presentations
ABILITY TO APPLY KNOWLEDGE AND TO UNDERSTAND:
Graduates
- will possess the ability to conduct specific researches on the history of art with references also to bibliographic, archival and documentary research,
- will possess the ability to organise and manage cultural activities like exhibits, temporary and permanent exhibitions, educational courses;
- will possess IT and publishing skills for organising and creating catalogues, web sites, and multimedia products;
- will possess knowledge which is applicable in the legislative, economic and technical field for cultural heritage.
The ability to apply the knowledge and understanding listed above is achieved through critical reflections on the textbooks proposed for the supervised home study prompted by classroom activities, research case studies shown by the professors, laboratory and IT practical activities, bibliographic and on-the-field research, provided for especially as part of the common and elective course units included in the study programmes, in particular in the historical-artistic, museum sciences and techniques, in technical-scientific and juridical-economics applied to the works of art field, in addition to possible intership activities and preparation of the final thesis.
The assessments, under the form of oral exams, reports, practical activities provide for the fulfilment of specific tasks, through which students demonstrate control over instruments, methodologies and autonomous assessment. For the internship activities, assessment is carried out on the basis of a report presented by the student and the company tutor.
JUDGMENT SKILLS:
Graduates
- will be able to process complex analyses based also on incomplete information and to develop independent opinions on subjects related to specific fields of indepth analysis.
Judgment skills are developed through practical activities, organised seminars, preparation of papers, especially regarding historical and historical-artistic type course units and in the field of scientific and IT disciplines, in which a special importance is placed on the role of the disciplines studied in society and their evolution based on cultural, technological and methodological changes. In some educational activities and preparation of thesis, space is given to didactic forms of project and seminar work, in which students are called to evaluate reciprocally and constructively the work carried out. Assessment consists in completing written reports, oral presentations and verifying the ability to intervene constructively in seminar contexts and during any internship activities through the activity assigned by the professor supervising the preparation of the final thesis.
Assessment is accomplished through evaluation of the course units of the student's individual study programme and evaluation of the level of autonomy and working ability, shown during the activities assigned for the preparation of the final thesis and during the thesis.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS:
Graduates
- will know one or more foreign languages;
- will possess communication skills for promoting and developing collections, through cultural, educational and scientific communication activities, as well as fund raising.
Written and verbal communication skills are especially developed during seminars, practical activies, and educational activities, which provide also for the preparation of reports and written documents and their oral presentation. The acquisition and achievement of the above-listed communication skills are verified also through possible internship activities, the final thesis and its discussion.
A foreign language is learned and verified through seminars and educational activities as part of additional course units.
LEARNING SKILLS:
Graduates
- will be able to use instruments of analysis and apply the learning methods developed in order to elaborate upon and update their knowledge;
- will be able to identify instruments and appropriate educational courses for furthering the development of personal cultural and specialised knowledge and professional skills.
The learning abilities acquired are a result of the entire period of study and in particular of home study, of the preparation of individual projects, as well as the preparation of the thesis.
Learning skills are evaluated continuously throughout the learning period. The respect of deadlines, the presentation of independently collected data, tutoring during the preparation of projects and the evaluation of the self-directed learning which has been developed during the completion of the thesis are all considered.
