- Course overview
- The Summer School, which will last for 5 days, will be taught in English. It awards 3 University educational credits (CFU) and has as its learning outcome In the last decade we have witnessed changes in the design and conduction of research in the biomedical field, resulting from the decoding of the human genome. In particular , it is relevant that the revolution has been focused on the discovery of new drugs and new drug targets thanks to genomics, transcriptomics and proteomics. The selection and validation of new drug targets requires a number of research strategies that have been developed recently. The aim of the School is to spread among young people in education and among those who are already working in this field, how to best use the tools offered by the most advanced research and updated . Experts, leaders in their field, were invited as lecturers. They will explain, through lectures and a lab exercise, the following topics: chemogenomics, drug discovery, genomics; the role of high-throughput assays; the small interfering RNA; reporter gene models in vitro and in vivo; transcription factors as new therapeutic targets; chemiluminescence Integrated systems for analysis. Finally, we will sketch the lines of the future development of these technologies. In order to better facilitate the dialogue between teachers and students, there are two moments in the middle and at the end of the course, in which students will be encouraged to ask teachers questions on the topics that most interested them. Another highlight will be the individual experience in the laboratory, where each student will engage in experiments planned under the guidance of specialized tutor.
