Professional Profile
Pursuant to Decree no. 270 of 22 October 2004 of the Ministry of Education, University and Research, for academic year 2025/2026, Alma Mater Studiorum – Università di Bologna, Administrative office of Bologna, will run a First level Professional Master’s Programme in Large Marine Vertebrates Sciences”.
The Professional Master’s Programme has been set up on the proposal of the Department of Veterinary Medical Sciences and in cooperation with University of Calabria, Rende (CS), Italy, and Egas Moniz University, Lisbon, Portugal
The Master's degree aims to create professionals who have sufficient knowledge of the study of large marine vertebrates, most of which focus on marine mammals or are primarily oriented towards providing conservation-related basics, to be able to find employment in various job sectors: ranging from conservation associations, to government offices involved with species protection, to aquatic parks and aquariums. The Master's programme can also contribute to increasing the University's educational offerings, also on an international level, and to expanding opportunities for students and professionals to improve their preparation in this field.

Admission qualifications
1. First cycle degree and/or second / single cycle degree obtained under D.M. 270/04 or first cycle degree and/or second / single cycle degree obtained under the laws previously in force (DM 59/99 and Old Regulations) in the following fields or classes: L-13 (Biology), L-32 (Science and Technology for Environment and Nature), L-38 (Animal Husbandry); LM-6 (Biology), LM-42 (Veterinary Medicine) or second cycle, single cycle degree/Combined Bachelor and Master degrees in an equivalent disciplinary area, achieved under the previous terms.

2. First cycle degree and/or second / single cycle degree obtained abroad deemed equivalent to those described in point above by the admission committee, for the purposes of admission to the Master.

3. According to a positive evaluation by the Admission Board, candidates with Master degrees not listed above may also be admitted to the selection process, provided they are in possession of a curriculum vitae et studiorum proving a qualified competence in the subjects covered by the Master.

Minimum score for passing the selection is 60/100, and maximum score is 100, with a breakdown as follows: maximum 60 points for qualification, maximum 40 point for interview
