In the 37th cycle, the University of launched a call for applications for additional positions in the fields of “innovation” and “green”. The financial were provided by the FSE REACT-EU funds, allocated to universities under Ministerial Decree of 10 August 2021, no. 1061.
The measure put into effect Action IV.4 – PhD programmes and research contracts in innovation and Action IV.5 – PhD programmes on green related topics of Axis IV of the "Education and Research for Recovery - REACT-EU" 2014-2020 PON Research and Innovation programme. This initiative was implemented to achieve the thematic objective of cohesion policies: "to promote recovery from the effects of the crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and its social consequences, and to pave the way for a green, digital and resilient economic recovery "(Regulation (EU) 2020/2221 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 23 December 2020).
Specifically, Action IV.4 aimed to promote research activities on innovation, digital infrastructure and enabling technologies, as well as to foster the development of human capital as a key driver of research and innovation in Italy.
Conversely, Action IV.5 aimed to develop human capital by engaging researchers in PhD programmes focused on ecosystem conservation, biodiversity, mitigating the impact of climate change, and promoting sustainable development.
The research activities were designed and conducted in alignment with the National Smart Specialisation Strategy (SNSI) and in the National Research Programme (PNR), to encourage an open approach to innovation and to strengthen the exchange between the research and production sectors.
