Learning outcomes
At the end of the TPV, students are able to integrate the knowledge acquired during the Master Programme and autonomously exercise it, with particular reference to: • Adopt appropriated cognitive assessment protocols to individuals with multiple ethnic and cultural backgrounds • Planning interventions on psychological diseases in the light of neural plasticity and cognitive processes with a rehabilitation purpose • Appropriate use of quantitative and qualitative methods in the investigation of well-being and inclusivity issues and psychometric tools in psychological assessment • Set interventions on biological and social vulnerability and atypical development of children and adolescents also through the adoption of technologies in education contexts. • Identify problems and set interventions by adopting socio-cognitive and intergroup relational strategies to reduce prejudice and promote social inclusivity of minority groups and migrants. • design, implement and assess psychological interventions aimed to organizations’ wellbeing • Recognition of symptoms for main DSM-V child psychopathological conditions and their treatment. • Planning well-being interventions relying on clinical models in addressing mental health and chronic diseases linked to longevity using the conceptual and methodological framework of clinimetrics.
Course contents
The contents of the internship include the following activities:
Activities in the presence of the tutor:- Welcoming preterm and full-term born children, filling out anamnestic and sociodemographic records, participating in need analysis, administering and scoring diagnostic tests for language delays, writing reports, and providing feedback to families;
- Participating in the design and observation of classroom activities for the prevention of bullying and cyberbullying and improving the school climate;
- Designing and observing the implementation of training courses aimed at enhancing awareness in child development and wellbeing for teachers and parents;
- Designing and conducting psychological research: literature analysis, research project formulation, submitting proposals to the University Bioethics Committee, data collection, statistical analysis, result discussion, and presentation at a conference.
- Welcoming children, filling out medical records, need analysis, administering and scoring diagnostic tests for language delays, writing reports, and providing feedback to families;
- Designing and conducting classroom activities for the prevention of bullying and cyberbullying;
- Designing and implementing training courses courses aimed at enhancing awareness in child development and wellbeing for teachers and parents;
- Designing and conducting psychological research.

- Testing tools: cognitive scales (Bayley III), analysis of communicative and linguistic skills (PVB, PinG, PRF), learning assessments (AC-MT, MT, DDE-2), school climate assessments (QBS), relationship analysis (sociometric tests, questionnaires)
- Clinical interviews

- Use of analysis software (SPSS) for evaluating the effectiveness of proposed prevention interventions
Teaching methods
The methods used to achieve the competencies include:
- Working together with tutors
- Gradual achievement of autonomy with the tutor's supervision
- Team working with other psychologists of the SERES Service
- Participation in team meetings with other team members and other professionals in the service's collaboration network
The internship will be held at the SERES Psychological Consultation Service for risks and developmental delays and educational and school issues, via Filippo Re 10 Bologna.
Activities may also be conducted at locations affiliated with the SERES Psychological Service (schools and the Neonatology and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at the IRCCS Azienda ospedaliera-universitaria Bologna Policlinico di S. Orsola).
Assessment methods
The tutor will evaluate the skills acquired by the trainee during and at the conclusion of the internship using a standardised procedure prepared by the Department of Psychology, resulting in the assignment of suitability valid for access to the Practical Evaluation Test.
