Learning outcomes

The student acquires the techniques for the radiological study of the devices with and without MDC, the preparation of the patient and knows the relevant MDC, the rules of radiation protection and patient handling.

Course contents

Chest radiological imaging techniques: standard and special projections in cooperating and uncooperative patients, in the emergency room, and in the adult ward. Outline of pediatric chest radiological imaging techniques in the ward and emergency room.

Radiological imaging techniques of the abdomen: standard and special projections for cooperative and non-cooperative patients, from the emergency room and in the adult ward. Outlines of radiological imaging techniques of the pediatric abdomen in the ward and in the emergency room.

Radiological imaging techniques of the pelvis.

Radiological imaging techniques of the shoulder.

Natural and artificial contrast agents used for diagnostic purposes in the human body.

Radiological imaging techniques of the digestive system: first tract, esophagus, stomach, small bowel enema, barium enema, defecography and fistulography with single barititated contrast, double barititated contrast and water-soluble contrast.

X-ray study technique of swallowing and salivary glands.

Radiological imaging techniques of the biliary tract: intraoperative, post-operative cholangiography, cutaneous cholangiography and ERCP.

Historical notes on OS cholecystography and intravenous cholangiography.

Radiological imaging techniques of the urinary system: descending urography, cystography, retrograde cystourethrography, ascending pyelography with organo-iodine contrast medium.

Radiological imaging techniques of the female reproductive system: hyperosalpingography.

Historical notes on radiographic techniques for the study of the male reproductive system.
