CINEMATOGRAPHIC DRAMATURES: from the screenplay to the editing, scripts in comparison
The cinematographic work is the fruit of a stratification of scripts: subject, screenplay, shooting, editing, are nothing but different languages that add up, collide and cross over to define the final text of the work.
Translating from one language to another is the main effort and challenge of directing and producing.
The workshop will focus on film writing by analysing its initial (subject/screenplay) and final (editing/post-production) drafting.
Screenplays of well-known and less well-known films will be examined in order to understand the dynamics of writing, the structure of the different dramaturgical forms, and the objectives of the text.
Subsequently, through the analysis of the editing of the same works, permanences, translations, adaptations, reversals will be sought in the final writing of the film text.
The comparison between screenplay and editing will reveal the complexity of the constant dramaturgical work that determines the effectiveness of a film work.
At the end of the workshop, the vocabulary, syntax and grammar of scriptwriting and editing will be a shared heritage among the participants, as well as the ability to analyse the dramaturgical composition of the works.
The 30-hour workshop will take place in the DamsLab Auditorium in Piazzetta Pasolini.
