Course contents
Learning outcomes
The course is in the first semester (October-January 2025) for the M-PSI/05 Module (Module 1: Community Psychology - Prof. Christian Compare Prof. Cinzia Albanesi)
The course takes place in the II Cycle of lessons (March-May 2025) for Module M-PSI/08 (Module 2: Roberto Cattivelli)
The lessons are held at the Cesena (FC) campus of the School of Psychology and Education Sciences, at Piazza Aldo Moro 90 and Viale Europa 115.
M-PSI/05
Students will learn how to apply the methods and tools of Community Psychology and utilize them in designing and possibly implementing projects for analysis and/or intervention within the community. These projects will be focused on areas such as psychosocial, educational, and prevention/well-being promotion within the context of the service-learning (SL) course.
SL integrates meaningful community engagement activities into the students' curriculum, dedicated to addressing emerging societal issues identified by and with local community organizations. This active involvement of students aims to meet the identified needs from a perspective of social justice and sustainable development.
This approach fosters experiential learning and empowers students to apply theoretical knowledge and disciplinary skills developed in the academic setting. Through service-learning, students can acquire civic and active citizenship competencies, which are further strengthened through their engagement experiences.
The proposed reflective activities enable students to grasp the challenges of applying the principles and methods of the discipline in real-world settings, utilizing the competencies of the psychologist profession.
M-PSI/08
The course aims to deepen the comparison between different theoretical models in Clinical Psychology and their practical application to specific cases. This includes techniques and exercises on conducting psychological interventions, both for assessment and support. Diagnostic evaluation and the main lines of intervention will be explored in depth, with practical exercises planned on the topics covered.

Teaching methods
M-PSI/05
The working methodology is based on the service-learning approach that integrates academic training (learning) with a 'community engagement experience' (service) on concrete real-world issues through intervention/field research. There will be short lectures, small group work, guided discussions, collection and analysis of qualitative and/or quantitative data, production of documentation products and feedback to local stakeholders. The classroom will be divided into small groups that will work continuously on the same project.
The SL includes a part of classroom activities (approximately 6 hours) and a part of field work (approximately 20 hours). The instructor's responsibilities will involve conducting training sessions, providing consultancy support, and offering supervision to the students in relation to:
- Promotion of empowerment, a sense of community, and social justice.
- Promotion of citizenship skills, critical reflexivity, and social responsibility.
- Documentation of the process.
- Monitoring of the project's progress and outcomes.
In their field work students will carry out:
- contextual analysis
- drafting an analysis/intervention and evaluation plan
- design of the intervention
- documentation of the process
M-PSI/08
The planned activities include small group and/or individual work consisting of clinical case presentations, viewing of videos of sessions with patients, role-playing, simulations of psychological interviews, and practical exercises on psychological assessment and support sessions.
