Academic Year 2024/2025

  • Teaching Mode: Traditional lectures
  • Campus: Bologna
  • Corso: Second cycle degree programme (LM) in Media, Public and Corporate Communication (cod. 5703)

Learning outcomes

The workshop aims to provide advanced skills for writing and producing informational multimedia content for various media and digital contexts. At the end of the workshop, the student will be able to conduct investigative work and produce long-form multimedia content; will know how to handle and verify sources; will have acquired proficiency with tools for producing audiovisual content for the web and major platforms; and will be familiar with various case histories related to journalistic investigations carried out with digital tools.

Course contents

Writing and, more generally, providing information today requires different skills depending on the medium being used. During the workshop, we will analyze how journalism changes based on the medium of communication: print, web, social media, radio, TV, podcasts, newsletters.

We will start with the basic rules of "traditional" journalism, which are still relevant today and serve as the guiding principles for journalistic work, and we will discuss together how to apply them to new media.

For each medium, we will identify the appropriate language to use, the necessary skills, relevant usage data, common mistakes to avoid, and the rules to follow.

Both Italian and foreign best practices will be analyzed to understand the best ways to provide information through digital media.

The role of news outlets and individual journalists will also be addressed.

As a final goal, including for assessment purposes, the course aims to have students create a digital journalistic product (such as a podcast, social media coverage of an event, or similar).
