Learning outcomes
At the end of the module, the student is familiar with the problems of dialogic interpretation and is able to evaluate deontologically correct behavior in that field; he/she is able to use the basic strategies of dialogic interpretation between Chinese and Italian in communicative situations that simulate real professional practice.
Course contents
The course aims to improve listening and interpreting skills so that students will be able to deal with conversational and mediation situations between Italian and Chinese at an elementary level.
Students will mainly practice listening and sight translation.
The texts that will be employed will cover various topics of daily life, simulating common communicative situations.
The course includes 20 hours of co-presence with the native speaker teacher.
Readings/Bibliography
Short-term Listening Chinese (2nd Edition): Elementary (with audio), ISBN: 9787561929469, 7561929463, Beijing Language and Culture University Press
Teaching methods
Each unit consists of a frontal lecture part, in which the teacher will explain the new content and elaborate on the grammar rules encountered, and an exercise part, in which the students will exercise their comprehension skills and oral production with the native speaker, as well as their listening skills.
Assessment methods
The test will consist of a written test and an oral test.
The written test will consist of a test on listening skills, similar to those covered during the course.
For the oral test, the student will have to take a short mediation test between Italian and Chinese with topics and vocabulary covered during the lectures.
Passing the written test will determine access to the oral test. The grade for the DIALOGUE INTERPRETATION BETWEEN CHINESE (SECOND LANGUAGE) AND ITALIAN I module is defined by the average of the marks obtained in the two tests.
The final grade for the integrated course of WRITTEN AND ORAL CHINESE LANGUAGE MEDITATION (SECOND LANGUAGE) is defined by the average of the marks obtained in the two modules (DIALOGUE INTERPRETATION BETWEEN CHINESE (SECOND LANGUAGE) AND ITALIAN I and TRANSLATION FROM CHINESE (SECOND LANGUAGE) TO ITALIAN).
Evaluation scale:
