Learning outcomes

At the end of the course, the student will be familiar with the linguistic and pragmatic aspects of the Chinese language; they will be able to understand, analyze, and produce oral speeches and written texts on a wide range of topics in Chinese, used in various areas of modern society. They will be capable of handling complex communicative situations, expressing themselves spontaneously, and demonstrating mastery of pragmatic communication strategies in Chinese. The competencies achieved by the end of the second year are approximately at the B2+ level of the CEFR.

Course contents

The course will continue with the consolidation of Chinese language and culture knowledge and the improvement of communicative competence, so that students will be able to handle conversational and mediation situations of medium complexity between Italian and Chinese. The course includes 40 hours of language practice, which will be an integral part of the curriculum. The topics covered in the language practice sessions will be closely related to those addressed in the current module.

Teaching methods

While grammatical explanations will be primarily delivered through traditional lectures, the development of the required communicative skills will adopt a predominantly communicative approach. Students will be expected to actively participate in class activities, both individually and in pairs or small groups.

Students will also be required to submit exercises regularly to the instructor, who will correct and return them on a weekly basis. Attendance is mandatory, with a minimum requirement of 70% participation in the course.

Assessment methods

At the end of the course, there will be a written exam (2 hours) and an oral exam (15-30 minutes). The written exam will be conducted first, and if it is passed with a minimum grade of 18/30, the student will then proceed to the oral exam.

 

Evaluation grid for the written test:

30-30L: Excellent level. The candidate possesses excellent language skills, with a very high level of competence in Chinese.

27-29: Above average level. The candidate makes only minor errors, and shows a solid command of the required skills and competences.

24-26: Generally sound level. The candidate displays a number of shortcomings, indicating a reasonable command of the required skills and competences.

21-23: Adequate level. The candidate displays significant shortcomings and only an adequate command of the required skills and competences.

18-20: Minim level. The candidate only meets the minimum level required and shows a minimal command of the required skills and competences.

proof not passed: The candidate’s does not meet the required standard and shows a wholly inadequate command of the required skills and competences.
