Learning outcomes
Upon completion of the Lab the student will be able to know the systems, both traditional and new, which are used for thermal control of mobility related systems; calculate the thermal requirements for automotive thermal control devices; choose and design a suitable solution for thermal control problems arising in automotive applications.
Course contents
Classroom activities: basics of temperature measurements. Infrared thermography: basics and intermediate notions. Basics of thermal system modelling.
Laboratory activities: infrared measurements and data acquisition/processing. Use of simulation tools (software) to assess the performance of thermal control systems for automotive applications.
Readings/Bibliography
All material used for the lectures and lab activity will be made available on the website https://virtuale.unibo.it
Teaching methods
Teaching is in the form of classroom lectures and lab activity.
Assessment methods
Assessment is individual and basedon the discussion of a report describing lab activities.
Successful completion of the course entitles to the statement of 'Pass'.
Teaching tools
Classromm activity consists of lectures and software use (Matlab/Simulink for simulation and data processing). Lab activity consists of experimental measurements and data acquisition.
