Learning outcomes
The workshop aims to perfect the reading and interpretation of data from both quantitative and qualitative studies, and to use this information to write academic and popular papers, through a 'learning by doing' approach. By the end of the workshop, the student will be able to: clearly communicate the results of organisational and/or statistical analyses; produce a written text (e.g. research reports, term papers, dissertations) using appropriate language.
Course contents
the course aims to provide students with transversal skills that may prove useful in their future careers. The aim is to be able to discuss different types of data, to represent, interpret and narrate them. In order to achieve this, the course will offer students various practical exercises to be carried out in the classroom.
The course will be divided into four parts: analysing and representing quantitative data; analysing and representing qualitative data; analysing and representing bibliographic data; and research writing: report and academic writing.
Secondary data will be used for the exercises and themes will be proposed, which can also be agreed with students during the course of the lectures.
