Learning outcomes

The course aims to provide the theoretical knowledge and operational tools for the representation of architectural elements, both with traditional techniques and with CAD techniques. The aim is to achieve graphic maturity in the use of the language of drawing and technical representation, educating the student in the use of the appropriate graphic tools.

Course contents

Graphic representation is an extremely direct and efficient means of describing design in architecture and engineering.

2D drawing, in particular, has become over the centuries a specific codified technical language for conveying information in this professional field.

In the digital age, CAD has become the computer work environment in which to produce and handle not only drawings, but actual databases of survey and project information.

The key elements to master therefore become: the tools (software); the language (code) and the fundamental theoretical concepts.

The goal is to provide students with the cognitive tools necessary to create correct drawings (and representations) and, at the same time, to know how to interpret them.

Teaching methods

Even though it is a purely theoretical course, practical activities will be proposed to learn the use of some fundamental software and directly test the fundamental concepts learned.

Assessment methods

A set of practical exercises during course, to learn theoretical explanation, will be main criteria to final evaluation.

The main place to found useful materials now is the web, so, during the course, addresses and criteria to search proper materials will be show.
