Learning outcomes

At the end of the course, students will acquire knowledge of the procedures and methodology related to the study of behavior and communicative processes.

Course contents

Methods for scientific research and methods for studying basic psychological processes. Study designs in research: experimental design, correlation, descriptive. Definition of dependent and independent variables; control group; control conditions.

Behavioral measures; neuropsychology, the study of patients to investigate the neural bases of mental functions; the function of emotions; the relationship between emotions and cognition; emotion regulation.

The slides presented in the classroom and the related scientific articles will be available on Virtuale.

Teaching methods

The course includes practical exercises conducted in the classroom by students individually, in pairs, or in small groups.

The lab activities include:

  • Exercises on methods for studying basic psychological processes;
  • Exercises based on observing responses to stress;
  • Exercises on the transmission of medical-scientific information.

Assessment methods

The Laboratory provides eligibility, which is necessary for the verbalization of the CI in General Psychology.

The grade for the CI will be the one obtained from the exam taken in General Psychology.

To obtain eligibility for the Laboratory, students must participate in at least two practical exercises and present a scientific article from those proposed during the course. The group presentation will take place in class.

During the lessons, examples of critical comments and formats to use will be provided.
