Learning outcomes

At the end of the course, the students can face the main topics in valuations, as the determination of the free cash flows, the company's cost of capital and the main multiples adopted. A more practical insight is provided through a case studies analisys.

Course contents

By the end of this course, students will be able to:

1. Understand and apply the principles of the time value of money.

2. Evaluate capital investments using various appraisal techniques.

3. Transition from accounting profits to cash flow statements, specifically free cash flows.

4. Analyze real-world financial scenarios through case studies.

Case studies will be provided in class. 

 

Teaching methods

The course will be divided into theoretical lectures and applied sessions dedicated to solving case-based problems. Throughout the course, extensive use will be made of real data gathered from financial websites.

 

Both whiteboards and slides will be utilized to deliver the course content effectively.

Assessment methods

The exam will take place during the official session and will be a comprehensive final exam focused entirely on the practical application of corporate finance techniques. It will include one practical case designed to assess your ability to apply the principles and methods covered in the course. This practical case will be evaluated on a scale of 30 points.

The maximum possible score is 30 cum laude, which is the sum of the final exam score and additional points awarded for class participation.




The grading scale is as follows:


- <18: Failed
- 18-23: Sufficient
- 24-27: Good
- 28-30: Very Good
- 30 cum laude: Excellent
