Learning outcomes
The student acquires knowledge of the epidemiology of adverse events and cultural aspects of errors in healthcare. Methods and tools for the identification, analysis and management of risk (Incident Reporting, Significant Event Audit, the main aspects of the RCA and FMEA /FMECA) and the regional and national organizational structures of Risk Management in the framework of Clinical Governance.
Course contents
Definition of risk and clinical risk. The concept of error and classification in the healthcare sector. Methodologies for risk analysis. Clinical Risk Management in the hospital context. The Incident reporting system and SEA. Types of errors in diagnostic imaging services. The importance that the organization assumes in reducing errors and critical context issues. The types of organizational tools most used in the context of Risk Management activities in healthcare.
Teaching methods
Lectures, group work and simulations/exercises on the application of the most used methods and tools in the field of health risk management with a specific focus on the radiological context.
Assessment methods
Through a written paper/presentation the student will have to demonstrate understanding of risk management concepts aimed at process safety in the radiological field
